Mass Bulb Plantings by The Garden Groomer

View the 2026 Bulb Catalog!

A Beautiful Spring Starts This Fall in Des Moines, Iowa

Get a jumpstart on next year's garden by pre-ordering your spring bulbs! Each year, The Garden Groomer team curates a limited selection of top-performing, staff-favorite bulb varieties chosen for their beauty, reliability, and success in Iowa gardens.

🌷 The 2026 Bulb Order Form is Open!

Because our team hand-selects and pre-orders our favorite bulb varieties months in advance, quantities are limited and popular selections often sell out quickly. Once a variety is gone, we may not be able to source additional bulbs, so we encourage ordering as early as possible for the best selection.

Each bulb is priced between $1–$4 (shipping included), and you won't pay until after installation. We'll take care of the planting this fall, so you can simply look forward to a beautiful spring display.

Bulb orders must be placed by August 14th at 11:59PM.

🌷 Spoiler Alert!

Tulips

Colorful. Classic. Crowd-Pleasers.

Tulips are a spring classic known for their bold colors and formal garden appeal. They bloom in early to late spring depending on variety, and thrive best under full sun but can handle partial shade. Tulips by nature are not deer- or bunny-resistant, but we can curate an arrangement of surrounding flowers or other protective measures to ensure that your tulips are safe from critters!

Daffodils

Cheerful. Reliable. Deer-Proof.

Daffodils are one of the most reliable and low-maintenance bulbs, ideal for naturalizing in lawns or garden beds. They bloom from early to mid-spring, multiply over time, and thrive in sun to partial shade. Best of all, they’re deer- and bunny-proof, making them a smart choice for long-term, pest-resistant color in any garden.

Alliums

Architectural. Pollinator-Friendly. Deer-Proof.

Alliums bring striking height and visual interest with their globe-like blooms and tall stems, flowering from late spring to early summer. They prefer full sun and well-drained soil and require little upkeep once planted. Their deer- and bunny-resistant nature and pollinator appeal make them a favorite for both modern and cottage garden styles.

Ping Pong

Hyacinths & Crocus

Fragrant. Early. Colorful.

These smaller bulbs pack a punch! Crocus are often the first sign of spring, while hyacinths add color and incredible fragrance to the whole garden bed. Both do best in full sun to partial shade with minimal maintenance. Hyacinths are generally deer-resistant, but crocus are not, so placement in protected areas is key for long-term success.

Grape Hyacinth

Kayla's 2026 Bulb Recipe!

This was Kayla’s absolute favorite bulb combination at The Garden Groomer Farmette!

We planted this recipe in Fall 2025 at our farm in Des Moines and it absolutely flourished this Spring!

What made this combination so special wasn't just the colors—it was the way each variety overlapped with the next, creating beautiful blooms for months.

All photos shown below were taken of the same Garden Groomer Farmette garden bed during Spring 2026.

The show began with the fragrant Royal Trio Hyacinths in early spring, followed by the crisp white blooms of White Cloud Tulips, creating a fresh, luminous display that caught your eye from across the garden.

Soon, the soft pink Menton Tulips took center stage, blooming alongside the White Cloud Tulips to create a soft, romantic blend that felt effortlessly elegant. And for the grand finale, the dramatic Purple Sensation Alliums emerged, extending the display well into late spring while providing a favorite food source for pollinators.

Kayla's only tweak for Fall 2026? Adding a drift of Double Duo Daffodils between the hyacinths and tulips for an even smoother succession of color!
