GG's Farm Stand & Farmette

Nestled in our little corner of Des Moines, GG's Farm Stand is a self-serve neighborhood stop offering fresh, seasonal goods. Most of what you'll find is grown or made right here on the Farmette! For occasional specialty items, we proudly partner with talented local women-owned businesses located within five miles of the Farmette. We love supporting our neighbors and sharing the incredible things they're creating alongside our own harvest (and including produce in those items from our gardens!!)

Whether you're stopping by for a bouquet, a dozen eggs, or whatever was harvested that morning, every visit is a little different!

The property was purchased in October 2024, and work began almost immediately to transform what had once been a more commercial-style property into a space filled with gardens, food, flowers, education, and creativity.

Today, the Farmette serves many purposes. It houses client inventory, gardening products, tools, and materials used throughout the season, while also serving as a gathering place for staff meetings and hands-on training.

Throughout the gardening season, team members spend time at the Farmette continuing to develop skills such as planting, watering, weeding, plant identification, transplanting, pruning, pest management, and general garden care. The gardens give our staff a place to learn, experiment, and become more confident gardeners.

The property is also home to a large produce garden where staff can learn more about growing food — from planning and planting to pest management and harvesting. That garden often produces more than we can use, which eventually inspired GG’s Farm Stand!

Our self-serve Farmstand is open to the public Friday through Sunday during the growing season and may include fresh produce and herbs, bouquets, eggs, handmade goods, and occasional baked treats such as sourdough and cinnamon rolls!

Beyond its use for the business and staff, the long-term goal is to develop the Farmette into a place where clients can see different garden styles in real life. We are continually designing and building new spaces around the property — from cottage and pollinator gardens to shade gardens, cutting gardens, native plantings, and more.

As the property continues to grow, we also hope to host scheduled garden tours, participate in local garden tours, and occasionally welcome small events such as photography sessions, intimate gatherings, workshops, and yoga.

It also serves as The Garden Groomer's outdoor classroom and training facility. Our gardening team uses the Farmette to practice new techniques, trial plants, learn seasonal maintenance, and gain hands-on experience caring for the same plants we recommend in our clients' gardens.
